Board of Education Vice President Deborah Taylor attended her final meeting Monday night.
In June 2013, Ms. Taylor made the decision not to run for the seat again and to serve the community in other ways.
”During her terms in office, Deborah has shown that she is a caring leader. She has been an initiator and a definite advocate for the students in this district” said Superintendent Gary McCartney at this week’s board meeting. “I view this as a tremendous loss for the entire district. We wish her nothing but the best in all of her future endeavors.”
Ms. Taylor took a seat on the panel in 2006, and has been the vice president for the last two years.
”She serves our community with her constant support for all the children of our district,” said fellow board member Arthur Robinson. “In addition, she is on the forefront of the township Women’s Committee, which sponsors not only an annual conference, but provides scholarships to deserving high school seniors as they graduate and more on to college.”
”On a personal side, she is a wonderful, devoted wife to her husband, Tim, and a concerned and supportive mother to her son T.J. He starred for last year’s State Champion Vikings Football squad,” said the newest board member Peter St. Vincent. “We know in the next four years, Debbie and Tim will be supporting the Rutgers football team, where TJ will be rising to stardom.”
Ms. Taylor assisted Mr. St. Vincent in the running of the Touchdown Club to support the football team.
”She is a woman of great character. She led to the Board stating their yearly Goals and Objectives at the start of every school year” said veteran Board member Harry Delgado. “It has truly been a great honor for me to sit next to her at all of these meetings.
Board President Stephen Parker said she has always showed great concern for the students of this district.
”Her judgment is always top notch and her questions are always great.” He said. “I have always had the utmost faith in her during the times that she was needed to fill in for me during my absences.”
Mr. Parker then presented Ms. Taylor with a plaque to show the board’s appreciation to her for her devotion and service.
”Having the annual holiday concert performed by our award-winning high school music department is a great way to go out of office,” Ms. Taylor said. “My goal has always been to make a difference in just one child. I truly believe that my serving our community was just one big gift to me. I thank the community for letting me serve them on this board.”
