MONTGOMERY: Community theater calls for ‘Shrek’ auditioners

Sourland Hills Actors Guild will hold open auditions on Friday, Jan. 17, and Thursday, Jan. 23, from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Otto Kaufmann Community Center, 356 Skillman Road, Skillman, for the stage production of “Shrek.”
The family musical will be staged April 4-6 in the Montgomery High School Performing Arts Center.
All ages, from 8-80, are encouraged and welcome to audition, although there are limited roles for ages 8-12.The story tells of Shrek and his loyal steed Donkey as they set off on a quest to rescue the beautiful (if slightly temperamental) Princess Fiona. Add in the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits and a biscuit with attitude to create a family musical adventure.
To audition, prepare 16 bars from a Broadway musical and come prepared to dance in a simple movement audition (not all roles require dancing).Sourland Hills Actors Guild, which is Montgomery Township’s community theater, welcomes back the team of Bob Meola and Reese Hansen as directors, and Kelly McDermott as choreographer.
The volunteer-run, non-profit community theater group is not affiliated with Montgomery schools. There are many opportunities to get involved on stage and behind the scenes in the community-wide annual event.
