Laura Crockett will discuss her book “Mary Stumpf at the Battle of Princeton,” during a talk that will begin at 4 p.m.
   The author describes the events of the Battle of Princeton that took place 237 years ago on the Thomas Clarke farm and talks about her book that tells the story through the eyes of the 12-year-old heroine Mary Stumpf. Story Room.

‘Rockstar’ screening
The Princeton Public Library will present a screening of the film, “Rockstar,” beginning at 6 p.m.
   This first film of the Princeton International Film Series is an Indian musical romantic drama that follows Janardhan Jhakar as he chases his dream of becoming an international rock star. In Hindi with English subtitles. 1 hour, 59 minutes.

Westminster
benefit concert
Westminster Conservatory of Music will present a benefit concert titled “Celebrating the Holidays with Music Gems,” beginning at 5 p.m. in Bristol Chapel on the campus of Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton.
   The performers will be students of Larissa Korkina, a member of the Westminster Conservatory faculty: Darya Tahvildar -Zadeh, a freshman at Princeton High School; Dallas Noble, concert master for the Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra; Anna Joselle Lomboy, a senior at South Brunswick High School; Charlie Liu, winner of more than 20 piano competitions; and Jeffery Yu, an eighth-grade student at Community Middle School.
   They will be joined by guest artists Julian Edgren, a student at Princeton University; Molly Zhu, a student at Emory University; Farshad Tahvildar-Zadeh, a student at Oberlin Conservatory of Music; and Ruatao Mao.
   The artists will perform solo piano works, as well as violin and piano duos, by Chopin, Schumann, Rachmaninoff and Schubert.
   Admission to the concert is free, but donations will be accepted at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Dr. H Korkina Scholarship Fund for dedicated Westminster Conservatory students.

Salsa dancing

The Central Jersey Dance Society will present a Salsa Sensation dance at the Suzanne Patterson Center on Monument Drive in Princeton.
   The event will start with a beginner salsa lesson at 7 p.m., followed by an intermediate salsa with Michael Andino lesson at 7:30 p.m. Open dancing will take place 8:30-11:30 p.m.

VOICES Chorale
open rehearsal
VOICES Chorale will host an open chorus rehearsal of Handel’s “Samson,” beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Music Together, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Road in Hopewell.
   The rehearsal is open to all singers with music-reading skills who are interested in joining VOICES permanently or just for this concert, which will be held in March 23 in Pennington.

Science and magic
at Cotsen Children’s Library
The Cotsen Children’s Library on the campus of Princeton University will team up with Princeton University’s Outreach program for an event titled “The Chemistry of Magic,” 11 a.m. to noon.
   Merlin, Gandalf, Miss Price, The Boy Who Lived…these characters all possess an enviable knowledge of magic. Now it’s your turn to learn! oin Dr. Kathryn Wagner for a science extravaganza packed with demos that reveal the facts behind the fantasy.
   Registration is required and is open now. The event is free of charge, and is for kids ages 5 to 12.
