LAMBERTVILLE-NEW HOPE: Winter Festival begins with Fire and Ice

River towns host events Jan. 18 – 26

   The 17th Lambertville-New Hope Winter Festival — organized and run by the nonprofit Twin Rivertown Projects, Inc. — will run from Jan. 18-26.
   This community fundraiser has selected the New Hope, Lambertville and Solebury Parks and Recreation departments, and local food banks, including Fisherman’s Mark Food Pantry as the primary recipients of proceeds.
   Winter Festival also benefits other community organizations, such as schools, fire, police and rescue organizations.
   Non-perishable food collection boxes will be at all Winter Festival events, including the Jan 24 Winter Festival Concert that will feature Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Jimmy Webb.
   Winter Festival highlights include:
   — FIRE AND ICE BALL — Jan. 18, 7-11 p.m., New Hope Eagle Fire House. Presented by New Hope Chamber of Commerce, tickets are $20/$25 (advance/door).
   — GALLERY CRAWL — Jan, 18 and 25 —This is a self-guided art tour that enables participants to enjoy refreshments and art at their own pace, starting and ending wherever they wish. Many galleries will be serving light refreshments during their regular business hours.
   — TASTE OF WINTER FEST — Jan. 23, 7-9 p.m., New Hope Eagle Fire House — An evening of fine food and beverages from local restaurants. Tickets are $40 for adults.
   — WINTER FESTIVAL CONCERT — Jan. 24, 8 p.m. Steven J. Buck Theater, New Hope-Solebury High School, 182 W. Bridge St., New Hope.
   Presented by First National Bank & Trust Company of Newtown, tickets are $45/$50/$85 (advance/door/VIP).
   VIP at Nikólas at Logan Inn runs from 6-7:30 p.m. and features a “Meet & greet” the artists, light hors d’oeuvres and a ride to concert. Now in his 10th year with Winter Festival, John Danaher will open the concert as a special guest with fellow bandmates Eric Aceto (violin/guitar) and Doug Robinson (bass/vocals) from Ithaca, New York, who will join him for a night of music.
   Mr. Danaher is a singer/songwriter who has worked and toured Arlo Guthrie, Bela Fleck, Derek Trucks, Kate Taylor and others. The documentary film about New Hope, “Embraceable You,” features the song “Give it Time” earning Mr. Danaher “Best Rock Song for a Documentary Film” by the Garden State Film Festival 2010.
   A current producer for Winter Festival Concert, he was special guest for the festival with his band, “The Quietmen” in 2012. Throughout the year, he remains active in the community as production manager for the Lambertville New Hope Friday Night Fireworks, stage manager for the Tinicum Fourth of July Riverside Symphonia Concert, producer of The New Hope Arts and Crafts Festival Music Stage, and donates his production company services to many New Hope Chamber of Commerce events including the annual holiday tree lighting. He also works with Rolling Harvest Food Rescue, Fisherman’s Mark Food Pantry and has served as Central NY Regional Director of Rock ‘N’ Wrap it Up.
   Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Jimmy Webb will headline the Winter Festival concert.
   Known for many platinum-selling classics, including “Up, Up and Away,” “By the Time I Get to Phoenix,” “Wichita Lineman,” “Galveston,” “The Worst That Could Happen,” “All I Know,” and “MacArthur Park,” his songs have been performed by The Supremes, The 5th Dimension, Art Garfunkel, Linda Ronstadt and Glen Campbell. He is the only artist to ever receive Grammys for music, lyrics and orchestration.
   Since 1993, Mr. Webb has produced five critically acclaimed albums. He recently launched “Still Within the Sound of My Voice” which features guests such as Brian Wilson, Art Garfunkel, Kris Kristofferson, America, Joe Cocker, David Crosby and Graham Nash, Rumer, Keith Urban, Lyle Lovett and Carly Simon.
   — WINTER FESTIVAL PARADE will be held Jan. 25,noon-1 p.m., Bridge Street — from New Hope to Lambertville.
   Also on that day, there will be Ice Sculptures and Snow Folk Art, and hikes and tours (also on Jan. 26.
   — A TRIBUTE JIM HAMILTON will be presented by the New Hope Borough Park and Recreation Board on Jan. 25 from 6-10 p.m. at the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad, 70 Alexander Ave., Lambertville.
   ”Just about every organization in the Lambertville and New Hope communities has at some time or other benefited from the generosity and support of Lambertville’s Jim Hamilton,” said a spokesman.
   He is known as a successful restaurateur for his Hamilton’s Grille Room and as an award-winning Broadway set designer.
   ”But Mr. Hamilton is especially revered for his dedication to the numerous local organizations he has supported over the past few decades that make him a legend. If you have attended fundraising events for nonprofit groups, chances are that you have been treated to Jim Hamilton’s generous contribution of delicacies from his wide array of cuisines,” the spokesman added.’

   Proceeds from the Tribute to Jim Hamilton will benefit the New Hope Park and Recreation Board’s beautification projects including flowering baskets, barrels, urns, year-round plantings and holiday decorations.
   — MUSIC and THEATER PERFORMANCES — Jan. 25, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., St. John’s School, Lambertville. A full schedule of family friendly events, including the SHR PTSO Café in basement. Free!
   — ROTARY BEEF ‘N BREW — Jan. 25, 1-4 p.m., Triumph Brewing Co. — presented by Lambertville-New Hope Rotary and features hot roast beef sandwiches and Triumph brews. Tickets are $40 for adults
   PANCAKE BREAKFAST — Jan. 26, 8-11:30 a.m., New Hope-Solebury High School cafeteria. Presented by the NH-S girls soccer team with children’s activities hosted by Solebury Parks and Recreation in the gyms. Tickets are: $6.50, adults; $5, seniors; $3.50, children 3-12.
   ANNUAL CHILI COOK-OFF — Jan. 26, 1-4 p.m., New Hope Eagle Fire House. Presented by Triumph Brewing Company, the chilis are prepared by area restaurants, with Triumph beers. Costs: $50, adults; $45 under 21 or no alcohol (includes commemorative pint glass).
