Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios announced Tuesday that warming locations will be operating throughout the county as the region experiences a major winter storm.
Residents should call ahead to make sure facilities are open because some municipalities are closing early due to the snow.
It is anticipated that locations will be open today for the remainder of the times posted below and throughout the operating hours tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 22. Temperatures and precipitation will dictate whether the warming locations will remain open after Jan. 22.
”I encourage all residents whose heat has failed or is not working properly or who are experiencing extreme cold due to other circumstances to go to your local warming location,” Mr. Rios said. “It is our duty as elected officials to safeguard the health of our citizens, especially now when these weather conditions put their health and safety at great risk.”
Mr. Rios said the county’s Office of Emergency Management and Preparedness, Office of Health Services and Office of Human Services coordinated with the municipalities in setting up these warming locations.
Residents are instructed to call their local police department or Office of Emergency Management for any questions or further information.
