Edison man dead after found unresponsive on hunting trip

EDISON — A township man on a hunting trip died Jan. 18 shortly after being found unresponsive atop a tree stand in Branchburg, according to police.

Mark P. Dudar, 52, was on a trip with the Double O Buck Hunting Club of Perth Amboy. He and other club members went up into tree stands around 10:30 a.m., and friends saw him slumped over about an hour later.

Branchburg police received the call around 11:36 a.m. and administered CPR upon arriving at the scene. Dudar was transported to Somerset Medical Center and was pronounced dead about an hour later, according to Branchburg police Lt. Bill Halderman.

Although the cause of death has yet to be determined, police have deemed it to be natural causes at this point, Halderman said. — Jessica D’Amico
