Club will hear police detective talk about scams
The Manville Senior Citizens meet on the second Thursday of each month at the VFW on Washington Avenue.
The next regular meeting will be Feb. 13, with a new starting time of noon.
The Executive Board will continue to hold meetings on the Wednesday prior to the regular meeting.
The club voted to change the meeting time to noon starting with the Feb. 13 meeting.
At the February meeting, Manville Police Detective William Sampson will talk about some of the newest scams and Office of Emergency Management’s Ken Otrimski will go over the new phone communications.
Residents of Manville age 50 and older are eligible for membership. Also, persons who do not remain residents of Manville are still eligible for membership. Dues for new members are $20, which includes 2014 dues and registration.
Dues for 2014 must be paid by Feb. 13.
Canned goods or nonperishable food items will continue to be collected before each meeting. Remember to bring one item per member to stock the Food Bank.
Blood pressure screening is held before the beginning of each meeting for members, starting at 11:30 a.m.
Recreation Events
• Feb. 19-21 — Cape May at The Grand Hotel. Trip includes travel to Resorts Casino on the way down, Grand Hotel check-in, two sit-down dinners with shows by Joey Vincent and Michael McGeehan in the ballroom, two full breakfasts, lunch buffet and travel to Showboat Casino on the way home. • Atlantic City — The bus leaves at 9 a.m. from the VFW parking lot on the second Wednesday of each month for Showboat Casino. The next trip is Feb. 12. The cost is $30, of which $25 will be returned. This trip is open to the public. Call Josephine Pschar at 908-722-0156.
