Staged reading, reception set at theater

Legacy Month, a celebration of Crossroads Theatre Company’s history and contributions to the American cultural landscape, will continue with a staged reading of “Repairing a Nation,” a new play by playwright and performer Nikkole Salter, Feb. 16 at the theater, 7 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick.

The program will begin with a reception with the author at noon, followed by the reading at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $75 for the reception and staged reading, $25 for the play only. The event is a fundraiser for the theater.

“Repairing a Nation” is the story of a contemporary Oklahoma family torn apart by pressure to seek reparations for the Tulsa race riot of 1921, which has been called the worst incident of racial violence in American history.
