Albivi Brick Oven offers traditional Italian fare and many specialty dishes at its location on Perrineville Road in Millstone Township. A lbivi Brick Oven offers much more than chicken parmesan. Albivi owner Vincenzo Castronovo, interviewed on a busy Valentine’s Day, said his favorite dish is the filet mignon. The restaurant’s most popular dish, however, is its award-winning chicken parmesan.

“We actually won an award,” Castronovo said. “We placed in a state chicken parmesan contest.”

At 866 Perrineville Road in Millstone Township, Albivi Brick Oven offers an informal seating area near the pizza ovens and a more formal dining area in the back of the house.

The menu offers traditional Italian fare, but shines in the dishes with a little more flair. The kitchen may take a little time, but it ensures meals are prepared fresh to order.

Pizzas run the gamut and include the Las Vegas, which consists of potato wedges, bacon, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, finished with gorgonzola cream sauce.

The Salsiccia pizza hosts homemade fennel sausage, plum tomato sauce, roasted garlic broccoli raab, fresh mozzarella, pecorino romano and chilies.

All of the pies are offered in personal 10- inch or large 16-inch sizes. They are also made with traditional or thin and crispy crusts.

Traditional hot and cold sub sandwiches are served, as are paninis and an array of specialty sandwiches.

On the dinner menu, there are fresh pastas and veal scaloppini, baby lamb chops, filet mignon and Chilean sea bass.

Salmon Quattro Gusti is a must-have for those patrons who like seafood. Pan-seared salmon is finished with shrimp and scallops in a brandy cream sauce and topped with jumbo lump crab.

Castronovo owned a general store in the same location from 2003 until 2006, when he transformed the spot into Albivi. For those wishing for warm weather, Albivi has an outdoor seating area in the summer.

If diners have a smidgen of room for dessert, there’s a ricotta cappuccino martini, composed of ricotta infused with vanilla bean and brewed espresso, and topped with whipped cream, biscotti pieces, chocolate drizzle and a hint of cinnamon. Tiramisu and Italian cheesecake are also on the menu.

Albivi offers catering and dine-in and pickup service. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Call 732-446-8211 or visit www.albivi.com.
