‘Baby’ continues Freehold run

FREEHOLD — “Baby” the musical will continue its run at Center Playhouse, 35 South St., through March 2 with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

“Baby” examines how parents-to-be experience the emotional stresses and triumphs that accompany the anticipation and arrival of a baby. This 1980s pop-rock musical focuses on three couples on a university campus as they deal with the painful, rewarding and funny consequences of this universal experience.

Center Players’ production boasts a talented and versatile cast led by Alexandra M. Laks of Manalapan and Michael Drake of Morganville as the college students, barely at the beginning of their adult lives; Jessica O’Brien of Waretown and Anthony Greco of Oakhurst as the thirty-somethings, having trouble conceiving, but determined to try; and Antje Weymann of Middletown and Michael Dalberg of Oceanport as the middle aged parents, looking forward to seeing their last child graduate from college when a night of unexpected passion lands them back where they started.

Rounding out the cast are Paul Caliendo of Point Pleasant, Marcy Zieve of Farmingdale, Katie Reed of Bayville and Howard Smith of Oceanport.

Janet Lynn Spahr of Brick Township and Bob Sammond of Freehold return to their roles of director and musical director, respectively, on this production after their success of last season’s “I Do! I Do!”

Tickets for “Baby” are $27 for adults and $25 for seniors and students, including gourmet desserts and refreshments. Group rates available. Seating is extremely limited so call the box office at 732-462-9093 to reserve seats or visit www.CenterPlayers.org.
