MANVILLE: Woman says she lost $6,000 wedding ring

Police blotter, week of Feb. 24-29

   A Bridgewater woman came to headquarters at 9 a.m. Feb. 24 and said she had lost her one-carat diamond wedding ring, valued at $6,000, possibly at Walmart or Quick Chek in Manville or ShopRite in Hillsborough. She checked with all locations with no success.
   — Odors of natural gas resulted in evacuation orders at a No. 2nd Avenue address at 10 a.m. and at a So. 17th Avenue address at 1:08 p.m., both on Feb. 24, and on Somerville Avenue at 7:17 p.m. Saturday. PSE&G responded in all cases.
   — An East Brunswick man came to headquarters at 11:12 a.m. Feb. 25 to report he had lost his black laptop bag that day between Manville and Bridgewater. The bag had two car chargers, contract paperwork, two GPS units and two sets of glasses valued at $250, he said.
   — An employee of Xpress Delivery Service reported at headquarters at 11:57 a.m. Feb. 25 that his company vehicle had graffiti painted on it when it was parked unattended on North Main Street for four days.
   — Alte Roofing on North Main Street reported at 1:20 p.m. Feb. 25 that someone had used black spray paint on the southwest side of his building. Mark appeared to be a cursive ‘Berd,’ the report says. Value of damage was put at $50.
   — Adesa Auto Auction security reported finding a bag of marijuana in trunk of a repossessed vehicle at 1:56 p.m. Feb. 26. It was turned over to police for destruction.
   — A caller at 5:44 p.m. Feb. 26 said her vehicle was scratched, as if by a key, on the driver’s side panel on No. 17th Avenue between noon and 4 p.m. Estimated damage was $500.
   — A Hillsborough woman came to headquarters at 8 p.m. Feb. 26 to report losing her maroon wallet around 7 p.m. the previous day on South Main Street. In it were her license, credit and health cards, checkbook, $10 in cash, $4 in coins, a copy of car keys and other personal property.
   —— A caller in a sanitation truck called police to say a suspicious motor vehicle was driving slowly around Jackson Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard at 8:30 a.m. Friday. Police stopped the car and found a paper deliverer was showing the route to a new employee.
   — William J. Brown, 57, of Somerville was charged with shoplifting from Walmart at 7:33 p.m. Friday. He was booked and released to the custody of his parents.
   — Building inspector John Tamburini asked for police help at 300 W. Camplain Road. He inspected the structure from a prior roof collapse and deemed it condemned. Officers and the DPW closed roadways, PSE&G disconnected electric service and a demolition contractor was called in. The building owner, Joseph Cusamano of Branchburg, was on site.
   — Amber Jones, 21, of Somerville was charged with shoplifting $48.88 worth of items at 4:38 p.m. Saturday at Walmart. She was released and ordered to come to court.
   — An elderly man passed out and was unconscious at Christ the King Church on Louis Street at 5:11 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
   — At 10:52 p.m. Saturday, Brian Keller 32 of Monmouth Junction was charged with shoplifting $19.86 worth of electronic items from Walmart. He was released after posting $1,000 bail.
   —’Johnny Espinoza, 26, of Manville was charged with shoplifting at Walmart at 5:44 p.m. Sunday. He was released on his own recognizance.
   — Flaming Grill buffet was evacuated after fire department responded to an alarm reportedly pulled by a small child who left with his parents before police arrived at the North Main Street eatery at 7:03 p.m. Sunday.
