HOWELL — A Marlboro resident has been issued motor vehicle summonses following his involvement in an accident that left one person dead.
Daniel Boden, 24, has been issued summonses for driving 57 mph in a 50 mph zone, failure to wear a seat belt, careless driving, failure to drive within a single lane and failure to keep to the right side of the road, Howell police Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd said.
The accident occurred on Jan. 8 at 7:05 a.m. on Route 34 in Howell, near that highway’s intersection with Route 33.
According to Dodd, a 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck being driven by Boden crossed the center line of Route 34 and impacted a vehicle being driven by Anne Egan, 59, of Sea Girt.
Egan was traveling north and Boden was traveling south on Route 34.
The driver’s side front fender and wheel area of Boden’s vehicle struck the driver’s side front fender and side door areas of Egan’s 2010 Subaru Forester.
As a result of the impact with Boden’s truck, Egan’s vehicle spun counterclockwise and was subsequently struck by a 2007 Ford Focus being driven by Sharon Jensen, 34, of Forked River.
Egan’s vehicle came to rest in the northbound shoulder of Route 34. She was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where she was pronounced dead at 8:05 a.m.
Boden was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of a leg injury and possible head and neck injuries, according to Dodd.
