All are invited to a Lenten Hymn Festival
All are invited to Lenten Hymn Festival at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Ewing on Sunday, March23 at 3:00pm. Led by guest organist Emily Sensenbach-Gopal, guests are invited to sing select hymns for the Lenten season, including "A Mighty Fortress is Our God", and "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say". Ms. Sesenbach-Gopal will play variations of the hymns between the sung portions of the program. There is no charge for this event.
Emily Sensenbach-Gopal discovered the organ while an undergraduate at Hamilton College. Almost immediately, she began to play for chapel services there. She earned an M.S. in entomology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. During these graduate studies, she continued her musical education and employment part-time until deciding to undertake further musical studies. In 2006, she received a M.M. from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, where she majored in sacred music.
She conducted the children’s choir of the Chinese-American Music Ensemble (CAME) of NJ from 2006-2012, which sang twice at Lincoln Center under her direction. She worked from 2006 – 2010 as a theory/enrichment teacher with the Trenton Children’s Chorus, a nonprofit organization seeking to provide musical opportunity for inner city children.
She is currently employed by St. Paul’s Church in Milltown, NJ where she serves as organist/choir director. She is also the music director of the Rutgers Queens Chorale.
