Mr. Makowski, 88, of Spotswood, formerly of Old Bridge, died Feb. 24, 2014, at home. He worked at Permacel Tape, North Brunswick, for many years, and then was employed as a police officer for the Middlesex County Parks Police Department, retiring in 1980 as a sergeant. He was predeceased by a sister, Violet, and her husband, Stanley Potts. Surviving are his wife, Helen Smith Makowski; six children, Chester, and his wife, Catherine Makowski, of Little Egg Harbor, Celeste Champion of North Brunswick, Andrew Makowski of Spotswood, Patricia Gusz of Elmwood Park, Joan, and her husband, Joseph Teahl, of Old Bridge, and Maureen, and her husband, Massimo Pranio, of North Brunswick; a brother, Stanley F. Makowski, and his wife, Elaine, of South River; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended-family members. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Arrangements were by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick.
