Trish Chambers will present “Women Soldiers and Spies in the Civil War” at 7 p.m. March 18 at the Edison Library, 340 Plainfield Ave.
Dressed in period costume, Chambers will discuss the true-life tales of brave Northern and Southern women who were left behind to fend for themselves when their men went to war. Hear of their accomplishments as nurses, spies, soldiers, government workers, authors, lecturers and fundraisers.
Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at any library branch. The program is a fundraiser hosted by the Edison Public Library Foundation. Proceeds will benefit the purchase of handicapped-accessible doors for the North Edison branch.
