In the past month, the Princeton Police Department has investigated a number of residential burglaries in the Battlefield District of town.
Burglars gained access to the homes by forced entry or by entering though unlocked doors and windows. The thieves mostly stole jewelry, according to the police.
The homes were all unoccupied at the time of the burglaries, police said. The Police Department would like to remind residents to lock all doors and windows and lock cars at night even if they are parked in a garage.
Police said residents should also exercise the “good neighbor policy” and look after each other’s homes, especially when someone is away.
Alarms should be serviced regularly and set when no one is in the house. Police also said residents should have adequate and working nighttime lighting.
The police are also asking residents to report any suspicious activity immediately and in the event of an emergency call 9-1-1.
