I am sure that most residents would understand that Upper Freehold Regional School District takes the care and privacy of our students and their families very seriously. As the spokesperson for the board of education, I want to make a few things clear to our parents and students, as well as the public at large.
The Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education or members of the administration or staff will not condone, corroborate, explain nor elaborate on a specific disciplinary situation or action that takes place in the district. These matters are confidential.
As a member of our community, it is upsetting to see the personal attacks on administrators surrounding circumstances that are described by a local newspaper (Trentonian, March 6 issue) in a report that does not have all the facts.
The 10 members of the Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education support the high school principal and all our administrators fully in the administering of our schools, following our policies and, when necessary, investigating breaches in our code of conduct and associated policies.
Each situation is considered on its own merit, corroboration and proof. None of that information is made public at any time by the district for the protection of the student and their privacy.
I would like to further note that we are lucky to have administrators, teachers and staff who are so dedicated to the care and well being of the whole student. They take that role very seriously. The school board is the policy making body in the district. The administrators are charged with implementing those policies.
The Upper Freehold Regional School Board has a policy committee that is charged with the review and discussion of all district policies. The committee meets monthly to review policies. We contract with a legal advisory entity that focuses on school policies and their updates and modifications consistent with any state and federal legal decisions.

President
Upper Freehold Regional Board of Education
