Event raises funds for Girl Scouts

The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore raised more than $160,000 while honoring the personal and professional achievements of local individuals and organizations during its Women of Distinction and Community Partners Gala.

It was sponsored by Investors Bank on March 7 at the Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club, Howell.

During the black-tie affair, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, which serves more than 10,000 girls and 6,000 adult volunteers in Monmouth and Ocean counties, paid tribute to Dr. June Duck, CentraState Healthcare System; Mary Ann Larkin, Stillwell Hansen Inc.; Kathleen Mead, Investors Bank; Middletown Girl Scout Troop 1701; and Holiday Express, Tim McLoone, according to a press release.

The chosen honorees, all from Monmouth and Ocean counties, contribute substantially to the community and embody essential Girl Scout leadership qualities, making them valuable role models for girls in the area, according to the press release.

Upon receiving their respective award, each honoree expressed gratitude for the recognition and thanked those whose positive influence helped pave their paths to success.

The 2014 gala honorees join the other 2013 Women of Achievement and Women of Distinction recipients who have been recognized by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore the past 30 years.
