MANVILLE: Craig Jeremiah promoted to police sergeant

By Mary Ellen Day, Special Writer
Craig Jeremiah was unanimously voted to a police sergeant Monday night by Borough Council.
With the retirement of Sgt. James Paterno, there was a vacancy in the leadership and Mr. Jeremiah was the next patrolman in line for a promotion. His salary will be $126,099.
Mayor Angelo Corradino swore in Mr. Jeremiah as wife Nicole and children Connor, Mikayla and Colton held the bible. Police Chief Mark Peltack looked on.
Family and fellow officers were there to see the swearing-in.
Sgt. Jeremiah said he always wanted to be a police officer in town.
”I grew up here and graduated from Manville High School,” he said.
He went Monmouth University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in management. Sgt. Jeremiah graduated from the Somerset County Police Academy in 1998 and began his career with the Hillsborough Township department. He came to the Manville in 2000 and has since been assigned to patrol, DARE and the detective bureau.
”I would like to thank my family for always being there and supporting me in everything I do, especially during the rigorous promotional process,” he said. “I would like to thank Chief Peltack and the Manville Police Department for believing in me and giving me this opportunity as a sergeant. I would also like to thank the mayor and council for having the confidence in me to perform the task. I look forward to serving the residents of Manville in my new position.”
