New Brusnwick Jazz Project presents vocalist Patrice Jegou at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick Wednesday, March 26, 2014 8-10:30PM. Patrice Jégou, a Canadian-born, classically trained mezzo soprano, is an ex-professional figure skater who took up singing at the suggestion of a castmate while skating in an ice show in Mexico.
Years of study culminated in a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. Jégou has performed in Italy, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Spain, London, the US, and in Peru where she won First Prize at a prestigious international singing competition. Her highly anticipated album SPEAK LOW will be released on May 6, 2014, and features Grammy winning vocal jazz group Take 6, gospel superstar Andraé Crouch, saxophonist Kirk Whalum, trombonist Conrad Herwig, bassists Victor Wooten and David Finck, drummer Shawn Pelton, and guitarist Paul Jackson Jr. Production credits include Take 6’s Mark Kibble and Cheryl Bentyne of The Manhattan Transfer.
