The Eastern Wind Symphony Moves to Princeton with A Gala Opening Concert

Princeton, NJ – The Eastern Wind Symphony, established in 1996, is officially moving to its new home in historical Princeton, NJ and will celebrate with their Gala Opening Concert on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium. The Eastern Wind Symphony is a professional ensemble comprised of musicians from the tri-state area. Under Director Emeritus Dr. William H. Silvester, the ensemble has experienced exceptional growth and developed a national reputation and following. The
Eastern Wind Symphony has presented critically-acclaimed performances at Carnegie
Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, Patriots Theater at the War Memorial in Trenton, and at the NaFME Eastern Division Conference. The Eastern Wind Symphony has produced numerous commercial albums on the prestigious Klavier, Curnow Music Press, and MASTERS labels. Their newest album, entitled Resurgence, will be released in the Spring of 2014.
Since 2010, Artistic Director Mr. Todd Nichols has lead The Eastern Wind Symphony in achieving and focusing on artistic goals for the symphony. Through a new Guest Artist program, internationally acclaimed musicians from The New York Philharmonic including Stanley Drucker, Phil Smith, and Joe Alessi, have performed with the ensemble. Performance highlights include a premier feature performance at Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2013 and a sold out performance with André Thomas at The John F. Kennedy Center in 2012.
In the past year, Eastern Wind Symphony also created an annual Visiting Distinguished Conductor Program and commissioned Red Tail Skirmish (for wind ensemble) by renowned composer Bruce Yurko. In 2012 the Eastern Wind Symphony established a highly-successful Youth Band for young musicians in grades 9 – 12 who play wind and percussion instruments. New York, and Pennsylvania areas, many of which are music educators and freelance musicians. In addition, numerous members are also managing businesses, employed in major corporations, and busy raising families. Whatever their vocation, all members of
The Eastern Wind Symphony are accomplished and talented musicians who volunteer their time and enjoy performing the most highly regarded wind symphony repertoire in a high-caliber ensemble. Their reward is musical enjoyment at its highest level: music for music’s sake!
