ROBBINSVILLE — Earlier this month the Robbinsville Education Foundation held its 11th annual Recognition Ceremony and “Casino Night” at John Henry’s Stone Terrace in Hamilton.
Monies raised are being allocated to educational programs and resources that enhance the curriculum and are not covered by the school district’s budget, according to a REF press release.
Mike Reca, longtime member of the township’s Board of Education, was honored for his years of service to the community.
Sharon DeVito, board member, and Steven Mayer, superintendent, both spoke about Mr. Reca’s dedication and service to the community.
”Mike Reca is a true servant leader whose heart and passion always center on doing good things for the students in Robbinsville,” Dr. Mayer said. “During his tenure as Board of Education President, Mike brought administrative stability and a compelling vision to the school district. It was a true pleasure to see him honored at the annual education foundation dinner.”
In addition, Assemblyman Daniel Benson, D-14, presented Mr. Reca with a proclamation in his honor from the New Jersey State Legislature.
During the evening, more than 100 ateendeds played in blackjack, roulette and a Texas Hold Em poker tournament sponsored by Lighton Industries and had the opportunity to win a wide range of prizes.
Local businesses and other organizations donated products and services – from autographed sports memorabilia to Broadway show tickets to iPad minis – which made the event a success.
Members of Robbinsville’s Police Department were also on hand to support the event. The REF expressed gratitude for the local businesses and organizations for supporting the organization and dinner through sponsorships.
