EAST WINDSOR — An 82-year-old Monroe Township man was killed after his car collided with a Mitsubishi Eclipse at the intersection of Route 571 and Route 535, according to the East Windsor Township Police.
On Thursday, March. 20, around 7:33 p.m. the East Windsor Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 571 at the intersection with Route 535 involving a 2007 Toyota Camry operated by 82-year-old Monroe resident, Akhter Shaikh, and a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 18-year-old Nikhil Dondapati from Princeton Junction, according to a release from the East Windsor Township Police Department.
According to police, Mr. Shaikh was headed eastbound on 571 and was attempting to turn left onto Route 535 northbound when his car collided with the other vehicle traveling westbound on Route 571.
Mr. Shaikh was transported to University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro where he was later pronounced dead, the release said.
Mr. Dondapati had complained of chest pains and was also transported to the same hospital.
”There are no updates at this time,” Sgt. Christopher Jackson of East Windsor Township Police said earlier this week.
Sgt. Jackson said no charges have been filed at this time and the incident remains under investigation.
