LAMBERTVILLE: Teen wins gold in tumbling event in Utah

Lance Christopher competes for Motion Gymnastics

Lance Christopher of Lambertville flew home with a gold medal representing the Motion Gymnastics Trampoline & Tumbling team March 14-15 at the 4th annual Kalon Ludvigson Invitational, held in Salt Lake City, Utah.
More than 950 competitors from the United States and Canada took part.
”This is the first major competition of the year for our team and Lance did a great job for us,” said Heather Edwards, head coach.
Competing in the boys’ Level 8 tumbling event for ages 13-14, Lance led all athletes after the first pass and hung on for the victory with a final score of 53.1.
His medal was one of 10 that the Motion Gymnastics team won. He narrowly missed getting a second medal when he finished fourth in Level 8 trampoline event for ages 13-14.
The meet honors Kalon Ludvigson, 8-time U.S. men’s tumbling champion. His career was derailed last summer when he suffered a severe injury while in training. The meet was his first public appearance since his accident.
”He is an inspiration to so many of us and we wish him the best on his road to recovery,” said Edwards. A fund has been started to assist Ludvigson in covering medical and rehabilitation costs. For information, go to www.gofundme.com/kalonludvigson.
