Seventeen local nonprofit organizations receive grants from Hopewell Harvest Fair
March 31, 2014, Hopewell, NJ—On Wednesday, March 26, 2014, the Hopewell Harvest Fair held its annual Grant Ceremony to honor the seventeen local nonprofit organizations who received grants from the 2013 Harvest Fair. Representatives from many of organizations joined members of the Board of Trustees for an evening of thanks, camaraderie, and celebration, hosted by Music Together, just outside of Hopewell Borough.
This year, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and everyone who attended the Harvest Fair, close to $10,000, was awarded. The money goes to support operating costs and/or special projects of many local nonprofits, including, just to name a few, the Hopewell Public Library’s 100th Birthday Celebration, the Hopewell Elementary School Science Fair, the Sunshine Foundation’s Annual Dreamlift, and donations to Womanspace, Inc. and the Mercer Street Friends Food Bank.
According to 2013 Hopewell Harvest Fair Chairperson Julie Sansone, “All of us at the Harvest Fair are proud to be able to support the good work being done in our community. Once again, we were able to contribute funds to many worthy causes—and it’s all thanks to the members of the community who come out every year to the Fair. Thank you all!”
All 2013 Hopewell Harvest Fair Grant recipients: Boy Scout Troop 71 Hopewell Elementary School PTO (Garden), Hopewell Elementary School PTO (Science Fair), Hopewell Public Library, Hopewell Township Health Department, Hopewell Valley Children’s Theatre, Hopewell Valley Chorus, Hopewell Valley Lesiure Club, Hopewell Valley Lions Club Charitable Foundation, Hopewell Valley Senior Services, Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, NJ Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Project Healthy Bones, Sourland Conservancy, Sunshine Foundation Mercer County Chapter, The 24 Club of Princeton, Inc., Womanspace, Inc.
The Hopewell Harvest Fair is a fabulous event that brings together residents of the Hopewell Valley each year. It is also a fundraiser for a community grant program that provides support for nonprofit organizations doing important work in the Hopewell Valley. A percentage of all proceeds from the Fair go directly to the program. Since its inception, over $200,000 has been distributed to deserving local groups.
The 2014 Hopewell Harvest Fair will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 10 AM–4 PM, on the grounds of the Hopewell Elementary School on Princeton Avenue. The Planning Committee is now beginning to organize, and there are many open positions, large and small. If you are interested in volunteering, please email [email protected]. It’s a fun and easy way to give back to the community.
