BORDENTOWN CITY: Police Department welcomes new officer

City officials welcomed a new police officer to the ranks March 20 with the swearing in of Justin Lewandowski.

BORDENTOWN CITY — City officials welcomed a new police officer to the ranks March 20 with the swearing in of Justin Lewandowski.
   ”We are pretty excited about Justin,” said Deputy Mayor James Lynch, noting the new officer grew up in the community. “We wish him all the best.”
   City Clerk Grace Archer administered the oath of office to Patrolman Lewandowski during a special meeting.
   His mother, Laura Capriotti and grandmother Mary Capriotti and other family members, friends and police department members were in attendance to witness the occasion.
   Patrolman Lewandowski will attend the Mercer County Police Academy on April 28, according to Deputy Mayor James Lynch
   ”He will replace an officer who recently retired,” Deputy Mayor Lynch said.
   Patrolman Lewandowski graduated from Bordentown Regional High School. He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice at Berkeley College and a bachelors of science in Homeland Security at Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire.
   Patrolman Lewandowski is currently working toward a master’s degree in business administration at Daniel Webster College.
   ”While in school in New Hampshire, Justin served four months as a law enforcement intern with the Manchester Police Department gaining valuable knowledge in evidence gathering, court appearances, crime scene review, traffic patrol and response to calls, and more,” said Ms. Archer.
   The department has 13 sworn officers, which include Chief Mathew Simmons and Capt. Frederic Miller, two sergeants, six patrolmen and three special officers, according to Ms. Archer.
