HILLSBOROUGH: Average guys to test NFL pros in charity basketball on Saturday

   Many Hillsborough Township faces will take to the basketball court Saturday in a charity basketball game.
   The average “Joes” will take on former NFL Pros in a game at Hillsborough High School. Proceeds go to the Hillsborough / Millstone Municipal Alliance, BoroSafe, Life Skills and Dreams for Kids.
   Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and games start at 7.
   The township government team will consist of the five members of the Township Committee, Administrator Anthony Ferrera, Construction Official John Fiedler, Director of Parks Ron Skobo and Township Clerk Pamela Borek.
   They’ll be up against an NFL Alumni Association team with Kareem Huggins (New York Jets), Michael Campbell, (New York Jets), Tony Logan (New England Patriots), Barrett Brooks (Pittsburgh Steelers and a Super Bowl champion), Joey Porter (Oakland Raiders), Brandon Bing (New York Giants and a Super Bowl champion) and J’Vonne Parker (Denver Broncos).
   There’ll be lots of ready substitutes for the home side. There will be teams made up of student athletes, student peer mentors, teachers and Special Olympic athletes.
   General admission tickets purchased in advance are $10. For VIP advance tickets at $30 allows for VIP access for one-on-one time with the Pros prior to game time, photo ops and a light meal with the Pros.
   Tickets at the door are $15 for general admission and $35 for the games and VIP session.

   The Hillsborough/Millstone Municipal Alliance’s task is to provide educational and awareness information for the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse within the community.
   BoroSAFE (Suicide Awareness For Everyone) raises community awareness that suicide that is preventable and resources are available. Hillsborough District Life Skills provides education through various programs.
   Dreams for Kids, founded by former NFL player Lonnie Allgood, aims to build a child’s character by giving them the tools to believe in themselves and respect others.
