Art show reception: The Manville High School Artists’ Portfolio Group (Art Club) and Art Department caps its Youth Art Month Exhibit with a public reception for the artists, 6-7:30 p.m.
Sat., April 5
College open house: Raritan Valley Community College hosts open house, 10 a.m. to noon, in theater on campus on Lamington Road, Branchburg. Meet faculty, tour campus and learn about support services. Workshops on admissions process, paying for college and transfer opportunities.
The college offers a six-week session starting May 19, a nine-week session starting June 9 and a six-week session starting July 7. The fall semester begins Sept. 3.
Sessions on automotive technology and cosmetology programs are at 11 a.m.

Piano concert: Historic Hillsborough Reformed Church, 1 Amwell Road (at Millstone River Road), at 5 p.m. “Romantic and Modern Masters” will feature piano works by Debussy, Takemitsu, Brahms, and Haydn. Featured performer is Matthew Odell, a concert pianist who holds a doctoral degree from The Juilliard School in New York, where he also teaches. Suggested admission is $10.

Breakfast: Christ the Redeemer Parish holds breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast and potatoes. 8-11:30 a.m. in auditorium of Sacred Heart Church, South Main and Filak streets. Tricky tray: The Ladies Auxiliary of the Millstone Valley Fire Department will hold its 20th annual sale at the firehouse, 2365 Amwell Road, East Millstone. $4 admission. Doors open 1:30 p.m., drawings begin at 3. Extra raffles and door prizes. Free coffee and cake. For info, call 908-229-9437.

Slavic dinner: St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church holds monthly dinner, 4 to 7 p.m., St. Mary Parish Center, 1900 Brooks Blvd. $13 for adults (ages 9 and up) and $5 for children (8 and under). All-you-can-eat pirohi, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and sauerkraut, mashed potatoes. A surprise entrée will be prepared by St. Mary’s chef John Pagano. Orders to go are available.
