SOUTH COUNTY: Giocondo doesn’t file for new term as mayor

Generally, incumbents on governing bodies in five south Hunterdon municipalities filed the necessary paperwork by Monday to gain a spot on the June 3 primary election ballot.
An exception would be in Stockton, where Mayor Steve Giocondo, a Democrat, didn’t submit petitions for a new four-year term as mayor.
Candidates can always pursue write-in campaigns to fill any spots, especially where no one filed.
County Republicans will have a primary election contest for freeholder incumbent Robert Walton, of Hampton, who is facing a challenge from Harmen Vos, a former Clinton Township councilman.
Delaware: Charles Herman was the only Republican filer for the two three-year Township Committee seats. Incumbents Susan D. Lockwood and Kristin McCarthy, both Democrats, filed for re-election.
East Amwell: Two incumbent Democrats and two Republicans filed for ballot spots for two three-year terms on the Township Committee.
Democrats are D. Dart Sageser and Charles Van Horn. Republicans are John “Andy” Reid and Ann del Campo.
Lambertville: Two three-year terms are up on City Council. Incumbents Elizabeth Asaro and Elaine Warner, both Democrats, filed to run again. No Republicans filed.
Stockton: No one, including incumbent Steve Giocondo, a Democrat, filed to run for a four-year term as mayor.
No Republicans filed to run for two seats on Borough Council.
Democratic incumbents Neal Esposito and Kathryn Steffanelli submitted petitions for the two three-year terms.
West Amwell: Republican John C. Dale, appointed in October to replace Thomas Molnar, filed to run for a full three-year term on the Township Committee.
No Democrats handed in petitions Monday for the one seat.
