JAMESBURG: Holiday breakfast benefiting local needs

By Jenine Clancy, Special Writer
A few borough committees will benefit from an Easter lunch hosted at the Elks Lodge on April 12.
The breakfast will raise money to sponsor activities for each of the groups, according to organizers.
The Special Needs Committee, Youth Activities Committee and Veterans Committee hold several functions each year that help children in the community.
The Easter lunch will be open to all the children in town, with a $5 per person cost.
According to organizers, children can take pictures with the Easter Bunny and participate in an Easter egg hunt.
”It’s an outreach to the community to benefit three active committees,” said Ruth Jones who is the Youth Activities Committee Chair.
Ms. Jones said the money raised from the lunch will help them continue to service kids, like holding holiday parties and sports games.
She also said the funds raised will help the town’s Special Needs Committee carry on sending 10 children, including young adults, to the New Jersey State Elk’s Camp Moore, tucked away in the hills of the Ramapo Mountains.
The Veterans Committee, who brings together local men and women who have served our country, will also be present.
Lunches and entertainment are usually held once a week in town for members.
Additionally, The Elks Lodge No 2180 also hosts lunches for the vets on Thanksgiving and Christmas at their location on West Railroad Avenue.
The committee is also planning a summer barbecue.
Some local restaurants are set to donate food for the event, according to organizers.
Those restaurants include: Hearth Stone Grill in Jamesburg, Zinna’s Bistro in Cranbury and the local Subway.
Donations are still needed. To donate, please contact Ruth Jones, Youth Activities Chair at 609-955-1597.
