TRENTON: County officials working with Amazon to fill warehouse jobs

Mercer County, through its one-stop career center, is working with Amazon to begin filling jobs for the retail giant’s soon-to-open fulfillment center in Robbinsville Township.
”Amazon’s grand opening is right around the corner, and over the next few months they’ll be looking for qualified candidates to fill a number of positions,” said Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes.
The Mercer County One-Stop Career Center at 26 Yard Ave., Trenton, will also help match job seekers already in its database with possible careers at Amazon.
Amazon is accepting applications for its dock clerk and trainer positions and in late April will begin filling fulfillment associate and lead fulfillment associate positions, according to a county release.
Job applications along with job descriptions and company information can be found under related links on the county webpage at www.nj.gov/counties/mercer/job/amazon.html
”The Mercer County one-stop has an established connection to a number of talented people in our region who might find themselves to be a good fit for a career at Amazon, and my administration is building a strong partnership with Amazon to connect those people with good-paying jobs,” Mr. Hughes said.
The career center is actively supporting Amazon’s recruiting and sourcing activities, and the Mercer County Economic Development Office has arranged for Amazon to conduct live interviews in the county in the coming weeks, according to the release.
Potential candidates who have successfully completed Amazon’s online application and are advanced by Amazon’s job fulfillment team will be invited to interview locally.
Mr. Hughes said that Amazon has indicated that not all open roles have been posted and that potential employees should check back often. Mercer County, through its website, will update the Amazon links as new information is available.
”Candidates who might not qualify for the dock clerk and trainer positions should not be disappointed,” he said. “As Amazon indicates, it will gradually fill hundreds of other positions as it builds its inventory at the Robbinsville site.”
