FLORENCE-ROEBLING NEWS: April 10

by Peg Dotson
The Wilcox family would like to thank their neighbors for reaffirming their faith in the community. As many are aware, the family has been selling woodcraft for years on the honor system for 12 years. Recently, the family discovered that someone had taken the money out of he box.
After the family posted a sign regarding the incident, their disappointment changed when some nice residents gave small donations to cover the loss.
Apart from thanking their neighbors, the family wants to let the public know they are not looking for donations, and that they only wanted to bring attention to the good, not just concentrate and not on the bad.
Shrimp night will be held at the American Legion Post 39, 112 4th Ave in Roebling, on Friday April 4 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The event will feature a shrimp platter for $12, roast beef sandwich platters for $9 and a meatball sandwich platter for $8. All platters include macaroni salad, cole slaw, dessert, coffee and tea. Kids Meals are — and include one hot dog, chips and a drink, for ages 13 and under. This is open to the public.
Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m. a dinner will be hosted at the Florence Community Center in Roebling with all proceeds benefiting CHOP Pediatric Stroke Program.
The dinner is being hosted by the Bongiorno family whose two year- old-daughter Alexa survived a prenatal stroke. According to the family, the two-year journey has been difficult, but still a blessing, with the dinner being a way for raising awareness and funds for pediatric stroke research.
The event will include DJ music, a basket auction, a 50/50 raffle, a magic show, a balloon artist, a custom photo booth with a photographer, a cash bar and more.
