HAMILTON — The Friends of the Hamilton Township Public Library will host author, storyteller and musician Paul Evans Pedersen Jr. on Tuesday, April 22 at 7 p.m. for a program of songs and stories, based on the rich storytelling tradition of the Pine Barrens.
”The Legendary Pine Barrens: New Tales From Old Haunts,” is a new collection of dark and quirky short stories inspired by South Jersey folklore, according to a press release.
Mr. Pedersen introduces a rogue’s gallery of weird and colorful characters in tales that run the gamut from offbeat explanations of natural phenomena, to unconventional takes on popular legends, to strange doings in mysterious Piney towns and taverns.
He also puts his own unique spin on such legendary local subjects as the immortal Jersey Devil, dancing bandit Joe Mulliner and the mysterious Blue Hole of Winslow. With this literary feast, and his love for the Pine Barrens, Mr. Pedersen emerges as southern New Jersey’s most exciting new storyteller in decades.
He is an accomplished journalist, photographer, and musician and a multiple Grammy-nominated songwriter and recording artist. He has been a reporter for a number of New Jersey publications. This unique program will be enhanced by his engaging storytelling and musical performance skills.
