MANVILLE: Charges brought for shoplifting from Walmart

   Albert Modica, 33, of Fords was charged with shoplifting electronics and CDs for allegedly taking $491.91 worth of items from Walmart at 1:15 p.m. March 31. After being advised he was under arrest, he took off on foot, police said, resulting in a charge of resisting arrest.
   • Manuel Perez, 35, of Manville was arrested on a pending $250 criminal warrant at 12:40 p.m. April 1 on South Main and South streets. He was released on bail.
   • Brendan Shaw, 38, of Manville was charged with shoplifting and disorderly person after he was allegedly harassing people for money inside Dunkin’ Donuts on South Main Street at 2:51 a.m. April 2. A caller said he almost got into a fist fight with the men, but then the caller left the scene because he didn’t want to get involved.
   • Patrols made 29 motor vehicle stops in the 19 hours from 3:22 p.m. April 3 to 10:26 p.m. April 4. In one at 11:39 a.m. Galina Melnikov, 39, of Hillsborough, was arrested on a pending $150 traffic warrant, brought to headquarters and charged with being a disorderly person and resisting arrest for her conduct there. She was taken to the county jail on $1,000 bail.
   • Anthony Capaldo, 23, of Manville was charged with shoplifting at Walmart at 2:13 p.m. April 5. He also faced three warrants, which led to him putting up $1,300 in bail.
   • A caller at 1:40 p.m. April 6 wanted to report a vehicle stolen 10 months ago.
   • Bryan Avallone of Manville was arrested April 6 and charged with shoplifting $57.72 worth of items from Walmart. He was released pending an appearance in municipal court.
   • Johnathan Kersis, 26, of Manville was charged at 7:14 p.m. April 6 with taking a computer from Walmart on North Main Street. He was taken to Somerset County Jail on a third-degree shoplifting charge.
