LAMBERTVILLE: Police arrest city man on New York theft charges

He allegedly used deceased father’s credit car to buy things

Lambertville police acted on a New York criminal warrant to arrest a city man on Thursday, April 10, for purchases he allegedly made on his deceased father’s credit card.
Detective Michael Miloszar received a midday phone call from the New York State Police advising it held a criminal warrant for John D. Ginty, 41, of North Union Street.
Detective Miloszar and Sgt. Robert Brown arrested Mr. Ginty at his residence and took him to Hunterdon County Jail to await extradition. He was arrested the next day by N.Y. State Police.
Mr. Ginty was charged by New York authorities with four counts of grand larceny, and three counts of identity theft.
Mr. Ginty, a one-time Ulster County resident, is accused of stealing his deceased father’s identity in order to obtain property and services. Mr. Ginty’s father, Francis Ginty, died in March 2012.
Mr. Ginty is accused of obtaining and using the credit card at several local businesses in the Town of Ulster in September and October of 2012. Mr. Ginty subsequently received goods and services from these businesses as a result of these fraudulent credit card transactions.
Mr. Ginty was arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $7,500 secured bond, according to State Police.
Police remind that all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
