ROBBINSVILLE — Robbinsville Township, in cooperation with the Robbinsville Township School District, will host an Earth Day Fun Run on Saturday, April 19 at the Robbinsville Township cross country track.
The run begins at 10 a.m. Registration will be held on the day of the event only, starting at 8:30 a.m., according to a township press release.
The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students and includes an Earth Day T-shirt. Refreshments of water, iced tea, lemonade, bagels, bananas and oranges will be provided free of charge.
All proceeds from the run will benefit Project Freedom, located at 223 Hutchinson Road in Robbinsville.
Project Freedom is a nonprofit organization that develops and operates barrier-free housing to enable individuals with disabilities to live independently. Supportive services such as recreation, training and advocacy are provided.
There also will be a 9:55 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the track, which is located behind Robbinsville High School at 155 Robbinsville-Edinburg Road.
Registration checks on the day of the event can be made payable to “Project Freedom.”
In 2012, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection approved the second phase of the reforestation tree planting grant, according to the release.
Funds from that grant was used for a myriad of projects, including construction of the regulation 3.3 mile cross country track.
When not used for scheduled races and practice the course is available as a running or walking trail for the public.
