HAMILTON: Steinert music groups perform at Disney World

The ensembles traveled over 1,000 miles from Hamilton Township to take part in the Disney Performing Arts Program.

ORLANDO — Two Steinert High School music ensembles became stars of their own Disney show on March 28 and 29 when they entertained guests at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT Parks at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The ensembles traveled over 1,000 miles from Hamilton Township to take part in the Disney Performing Arts Program.
According to a press release, the Steinert High School Marching Unit, under the direction of Stephanie Giunta and Steven Balalis, greeted the morning guests of the park as they marched down Main Street, U.S.A. taking them past Cinderella Castle on March 28.
The unit then performed the crowd favorite “God Bless America” by Irving Berlin. This was the marching band’s 10th performance with the Disney Performing Arts Program since their 1996 performance at Magic Kingdom Park.
Also performing was the high school’s jazz band, led by Michael Anzuini. The band performed on March 29 at Melody Gardens Theater in EPCOT Park.
Their performance included “Fly Me to the Moon,” arranged by Mark Taylor. The students also participated in “Disney’s Jazz It Up” workshop, where they rehearsed and recorded jazzy renditions of several Disney songs under the direction of a veteran Disney Teaching Artist.
This was the jazz band’s third time performing at the resort, having first performed in 2010 at Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney, according to the press release.
Vocal, instrumental and dance ensembles from around the world apply to perform each year as a part of Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland Resort in California and the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform at the resort for an international audience of theme park guests. Millions of performers have graced the stages of the Disney Parks in the more than 25-year history of the program.
