LETTER: Commission appreciates support

To the editor:
The eighth annual stream cleanup was a huge success thanks to all the volunteers who helped by donating their time to make Millstone Township a cleaner place.
This year was the largest turnout of volunteers, some familiar faces from the previous years as well as some new ones. The cleanup, sponsored by the Millstone Township Environmental Committee and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, collected over one ton of trash, from the most common litter: cans, bottles and paper to most notable items being, 21 tires, a fish tank, TVs, steel drums, and a urinal.
All those who participated enjoyed the chance to meet other members of the community and support a common cause. A special thanks goes to William J. Johnson, clean communities coordinator for Monmouth County, the Millstone Township Department of Public Works and Lori Maher, Millstone Township Clean Communities liaison for their support.
The stream cleanup is an annual event and will be held next year, early spring.
