MANVILLE: Library to host two poetry sessions Tuesday

Library Happenings column

   Manville Library will participate in National Poetry Month on Tuesday, April 22, by offering two workshops presented by Ed Smith, director and a published poet. He will coach participants on poetry forms and the writing process.
   A children’s poetry workshop will be held from 3:30-4:30 p.m. An adult workshop will be held from 6:30-7:30. Both will be in the Community Room.
   Workshop participants, young and old, may submit their work for a poetry contest and open poetry reading at 6:30 p.m. on the following Tuesday, April 29, at the library. All local poets may submit and read one poem. Prizes will be awarded.

   Storytime: We will share a seasonal story, songs, followed by an age-appropriate craft. The sessions will be held from 11 a.m.-noon on Tuesday, April 22, in the Community Room. Children must be 3 ½ by August 31, 2013. Registration is required online or at the library.

   Card making: Creating handcrafted cards as a service project for patients in nursing homes. Materials will be provided. Open for grade 3 and older and adults. Monday, May 12, from 3:30-4:15 p.m. in the Community Room.

   Holiday craft making: Kids from ages preschool to grade 5 are invited to make a Mother’s Day craft Thursday, May 8, from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
   Marriage workshop: Speaker Denise Yosafat will present 10 things you can do to re-energize your marriage on Monday, April 21, at 6:45 p.m. in the Community Room. Workshop is free. Please register on line. Feel free to come by yourself or with your spouse.
   Display case: Do you have a hobby or collection that you would like to exhibit in the display case at the library? Call Barbara at 908-722-9722.

   Craft night: All ages are invited Thursday, April 17, to attend from 5:45-7:45 p.m. in the Community Room. All ages can make a craft to take home. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own glue gun. Register online.

   Lego Club: Preschoolers to grade 5 kids are invited to use their imagination creating Lego buildings, vehicles and more on Fridays, April 25 and May 23, at 3:30 p.m. in the community room. All ages are welcome. Please register online or at the library.

   Friends sought: Manville Public Library is looking for community members who would like to join the Friends of the Manville Library Committee.
   This committee will promote the library’s programs and collections, raise funds for special library projects and encouraging a lifelong love of reading and learning. Call Barbara Forbes at 908-722-9722.

   Schedule: Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

   Crochet Club: Join the club from 6-7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, in the Community Room. Experienced or not, you will be welcomed. Bring your own needles and yarn.
