The Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County will showcase the accomplishments of its teen members at its Premiere Night Gala, on Thursday, May 15, at the U.S. Headquarters of Novo Nordisk in Plainsboro.
Every year, the Boys & Girls Club offers 400 teens academic enrichment, character development, and career preparation programs. Nearly 100 percent of Club seniors graduate from high school, and 80 percent are accepted into college. All proceeds from Premiere Night will go directly to support these life-changing programs that prepare teens for a positive future.
Dominique Wilkins, former NBA All-Star and inductee into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Hall of Fame, will make a guest appearance at Premiere Night. Mr. Wilkins will meet with teen members prior to the gala and share his Boys & Girls Club experiences with guests. Shana Langley, the Club’s 2014 Junior Youth of the Year, also will address the audience.
The Boys & Girls Club recently announced the launch of More Than Hope, a campaign to help youth succeed. Supporters plan to build an additional Clubhouse in Lawrence Township and double the number of teen members. Plans also call for the introduction of vocational and technical career tracks for non college-bound high school students.
Novo Nordisk, a longtime supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of Mercer County and a leadership gift contributor to the More Than Hope Campaign, is the event host. Blue Carpet arrival starts at 6 p.m. The event also includes gourmet dining and an outstanding silent auction supported by mobile bidding technology.
