NEST!- Nurture Environmental Stewardship Today!, a nonprofit organization based out of Plumsted Township, is hosting a Bluebird festival on Saturday, May 3.
The organization is seeking volunteers and youth groups to help make this event a great success for all.
If you know of someone who is looking for community service hours or a business that believes in supporting green initiatives and/or a vendor/crafter looking to participate in a community nature festival, ask them to contact the group at NESToday.info@gmail.com.
New Egypt Day will be held on May 10 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The day’s festivities will be split between Oakford Lake Park and the Presbyterian Church grounds on Front Street. A scenic pedestrian bridge over the lake links the two sites. Main Street New Egypt and Plumsted Township sponsor the event.
Kid activities include face painting, pony rides, inflatables, petting zoo and a tractor pulled wagon. In addition, great food, music and lots of vendors will be on hand.
The Plumsted Business and Merchants Association co-sponsors the annual New Egypt Day event. This program is also made possible in part by a grant administered by the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
Admission is free. A $6 per child wristband ($5 if purchased prior to the event) is required for unlimited access to kid’s activities listed above and is available through the NEPS/WES PTO.
The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Ocean County Department of Solid Waste will also be conducting a free paper-shredding event as part of New Egypt Day. Free shredding will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be located near the Oakford Lake Pedestrian Bridge at the intersection of Lakeview Drive and Oakford Avenue.
