MANVILLE: Library wants to revive Friends group

Library Director Ed Smith would like to restart a Friends of the Library group that was briefly in existence more than 10 years ago.
The borough library is now part of the county system, giving it more to offer the public, but there are things that the county library can’t do that a Friends group could.
”They would basically fill the gaps that the library can’t do and pay for,” said Mr. Smith. “They would basically supplement the library.”
The Friends could raise money give it for use at the Manville Public Library specifically.
”The Friends are independent from me (the library). They would talk to me and report to me and the advisory board,” he said.
Many of the libraries in the area have had Friends of the Library groups for years.
If interested in becoming a Friend of the Library, contact Mr. Smith at 908-722-9722 or see him at the library.
