Grand jurors in Hunterdon County have returned five bills of indictment against Craig S. Drummond, 51, of Belvidere Avenue, Lambertville, for an incident around noon on March 7 on Belvidere Avenue.
The indictments says Mr. Drummond tried to cause serious bodily injury to Charles H. Ramsin, of Washington’s Crossing, Pennsylvania, specifically by damaging a vehicle operated by Mr. Ramsin with a baseball bat, and walking toward the victim while threatening to harm him.
Police reported at the time that Mr. Drummond advanced toward the car for a few hundred yards and broke a mirror and taillight on the vehicle.
The grand jury found it likely that Mr. Drummond threatened to kill Mr. Ramsin. The indictments charge that says the aluminum baseball bat constituted an illegal weapon with a purpose to use it unlawfully.
One bill of indictment says damage to the vehicle, owned by Edward Rorer, was between $500 and $2,000.
The indictments mean the grand jury found enough evidence for the cases to proceed to trial.
Mr. Drummond remains free on $25,000 bail.
The counts are for aggravated assault in the second degree, terroristic threats in the third degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (a third-degree offense); unlawful possession of a weapon (a fourth degree offense) and criminal mischief (fourth degree).
Police remind that charges are accusations and the defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty.
