Animal Alliance, a non-profit that works to help animals in need, will benefit from the Bucks County Fencing Academy’s (BCFA) fifth annual woman’s three-weapon fundraiser, which will be held Sunday, May 4, at 287 South Main St., Lambertville, in the Laceworks building.
”This is going to be one of our academy’s most successful and exciting competitions,” said Lisa Martini, who owns and operates the academy with her husband, Mark Holbrow, who is chief fencing master at the academy.
”The audience will be able to witness three rounds of competitions, including all three fencing weapons.” Those weapons are the foil, epee and sabre.
”We’re happy to help support Animal Alliance with this event,” Ms. Martini said. “The alliance is an organization that has such a positive impact on so many people, families and pets within our community.”
   At this coming Sunday’s event, fencers will compete at 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
”We’re expecting to have more than 50 fencers on hand, from Maryland, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania and other states,” Ms. Martini said.
There will be no admission charge. Local sponsors include Nicola Pizzeria and Zanya Spa Salon. Pizza, baked goods and beverages will be available for purchase. Bins at the event will enable guests to make monetary and pet food donations to Animal Alliance.
Animal Alliance places animals removed from temporary shelters into temporary foster care, with the intent of preparing them for adoption. The alliance gives top priority to animals that have been injured, neglected or abused.
