Dr. Robert Frascella, who has served on the Township Committee in Upper Freehold since 2008, appears set to serve another term from January 2015 through December 2017.
Frascella, 50, a Republican, was the only candidate to file a nominating petition to seek the one available term on the governing body that is up for grabs this year.
All five members of the governing body are Republicans.
As he looked forward to another term in office, Frascella said, “Basically I want the same thing we have been doing in the township. I want to make sure we are spending our money correctly … and continue with preserving land in the township. Upper Freehold has the most land preserved [of any town] throughout the state and I want to continue that.”
Frascella, who is a dentist, said he will pay close attention to an ongoing revaluation of all properties in the municipality, “although there is not much [the committee] can do about it.”
He said that depending on the outcome of the revaluation, taxes for some residents could change.
“We need to keep an eye on it because it could affect future budgets in terms of tax rates and how we spend our money, so it is definitely important,” he said.
Frascella said that beyond the financial aspect of the township, things are “fairly quiet.”
“I see things staying pretty much as they are right now unless the economy takes a huge upturn, which I honestly do not see happening,” he said.
“There have been some development [proposals] in the way of houses and commercial operations on the books for us for years, before I even started on the committee, but there really is no reason or money to look into them right now because of the way the economy is.
“Right now, I am just hoping to keep the town as it is, because what we are doing right now is working for us,” Frascella said.
