The Eatontown Lions Club and the Jersey Shore Running Club (JSRC) have announced the 9th annual Sandy Hook Lighthouse 5k Run/Walk for the Blind at 9:30 a.m. March 3 at the Fort Hancock lighthouse in Sandy Hook.
Proceeds will benefit the New Jersey Blind Citizens Association and Camp Happiness. The race marks a return of the event to Sandy Hook after damage from superstorm Sandy caused last year’s race to be relocated to Eatontown.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers, and there will be age group awards, as well. Scoring will be posted on the JSRC website. Special guests will include seeing-eye puppies and their handlers from various clubs in New Jersey. A special post-race gathering will also be held.
The entry fee is $30. For more information or to register, visit www.jerseyrunner.com/races/racedetail1.asp?ID=2939.
