The Monmouth County Park System will host the skateboard event, 7 Prez SK8 Jam, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10 at the Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park Skateplex on Ocean Avenue in Long Branch. The rain date is May 11.
Enjoy amateur competitions, live music and a pro-skater demonstration. Skaters age 6 and up will have the chance to compete on the street course for awards in beginner-, intermediate- and advancedskill groups. Contestants will compete for two-minute runs. Top competitors from each group will skate additional runs until there are three top finishers. Beginner skaters will compete from 9-10 a.m., intermediate from 10-11 a.m., and advanced from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Pro Skateboard Shop Team will show off their best moves from 12:30-1 p.m. A bowl contest will be held from 1-2 p.m., where skaters age 6 and up will compete in 90-second runs until there are three top finishers. Local skateboard and food vendors will also be on-site.
Helmets must be worn by all competitors. Registration is $15 for each skater and competition. Registrations will be accepted at the Skateplex from 5-7 p.m. May 8 and 8 a.m. on day of event.
