MONTGOMERY — Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will celebrate National EMS Week, May 18-24, with two events.
On Sunday, May 18, Montgomery EMS will hold its annual open house at the squad building, located at 8 Harlingen Road in Belle Mead. Among the many open house activities planned, visitors can attend a free “Family and Friends CPR Class,” a pancake breakfast fundraiser and a free “Pet CPR and First Aid Class.”
The pancake breakfast will be held between 9 a.m. and noon. All-you-can-eat pancakes along with a variety of snacks and beverages and some live entertainment. The cost for adults is $8, seniors is $6 and children is $4.
”The Family and Friends CPR Class” is an American Heart Association non-certification class. The class length is 45 minutes and teaches how to perform CPR on adults or infants and how to help an adult or infant who is choking.
There are two adult CPR sessions at 9:30 a.m. and noon and one infant CPR session at 11 a.m. Reservations are required for each session (register at mems47.org ) and there is a maximum of 30 attendees per session.
The “Pet CPR and First Aid Class” will start at 1 p.m. It is a two-hour class. The cost is $10 per person and the class is limited to the first 12 people who register by sending an email to [email protected].
The Montgomery Police Department will also be on hand to issue fingerprint ID cards and members of Squad 47 and Montgomery Fire Station No. 1 will offer ambulance and fire truck tours.
On Thursday, May 22, from 1-4 p.m. Montgomery EMS will hold its second event — free car seat checks — together with the Princeton Healthcare System. This event will also be held at the Montgomery EMS building. Make an appointment 5to have a car seat checked ahead of time by calling 1-888-897-8979. Walk-ins will only be permitted if time allows.
