CRANBURY — The Township Committee unanimously passed bond ordinance 04-14-04 at its meeting Monday night.
It was passed following second reading and public hearing, which also took place at Monday night’s meeting.
The ordinance authorizes the township to issue bonds or notes in the amount of $948,815, which will partly fund various capital improvement projects in Cranbury.
It was introduced and first reading was held at the Township Committee meeting on April 21.
According to the document, the ordinance seeks to appropriate $108,948 of the total cost of $1,107,700.
Replacement of police pistols, purchasing of township vehicles and electronic equipment, such as radios and video recorders, and sewer capital improvements are all on the list of items to be funded through the ordinance.
It will also cover security costs at Town Hall, Safe Routes to School engineering and inspection costs, miscellaneous road repair, as well as the non-grant costs associated with the historic district beautification.
After second reading of the ordinance, Mayor Goetz opened the floor for discussion amongst the committee members."Any comments?" Mayor Susan Goetz asked, as she looked around at her fellow committee members. "Are we okay with this?"
Various statements of affirmation signaled the committee’s desire to pass the ordinance.
There were no comments or questions from members of the committee at the time of second reading.
Committeeman Dan Mulligan noted that when the ordinance was introduced, that the improvements it will be funding are needed and necessary for the township.
Seeing no objections or concerns from the committee, Mayor Goetz closed the committee comment period and opened the meeting to public comment.
The present members of the public during the public hearing voiced no objection.
Township Clerk Kathleen Cunningham took a roll call vote and the ordinance was adopted, with all five committee members voting in favor.
