Finding the humor in art

“Snowy” by Jill Kerwick, Fair Haven “Snowy” by Jill Kerwick, Fair Haven The Monmouth Museum will present an exhibit of comically inspired artworks in a variety of styles and media that challenges the misconception that fine art is strictly a serious matter.

“What’s So Funny? Humor in Art,” which is on exhibit through June 22, runs the gamut from the light-hearted and whimsical to satire and parody. This juried exhibition will offer “wit for the visual sense.”

The show features work by more than 30 artists. Local artists include James Fitzmaurice, Rumson; Jill Kerwick, Fair Haven; Felice Shaloum, Red Bank; Larry “L.Jay” Patterson, Tinton Falls; Richard Rappleyea, Colts Neck; Riki Kleinman, Freehold; and David Byrne, Atlantic Highlands.

The Monmouth Museum is located at 765 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft.
